Shake, Shake, Shake Addition Center/Game

The instructions for the game are as follows: Place 7 red/yellow chips in a cup. Shake the cup and spill them gently on the table. Count the number of red chips and yellow chips. Color in your paper to reflect these numbers. Write the number of chips next to the R for red or Y for yellow. All you need are red/yellow double sided chips, this recording sheet, crayons, and a cup! My kids love to play this game during math centers when we are learning about part, part, total/addition.

Math Fable: Subtraction

What to engage your mathematicians in word problems? Try out this fun fable! The three little pigs get down to business with some multi-digit subtraction problems. It will require some regrouping, but like most fables, all's well that ends well. The story is written in sections, leaving plenty of work space on the side. Note: The preview may make the columns look unbalanced. Once you download the document, the passage will be on left and the work space on the right of each page.
