This is a rubric I created using the language from Northwest Regional Educational. It has the 6 traits, plus 1, in kid friendly language. Kids can sue this to self assess, and then the teacher can use it to grade the student's writing. The language is easy to understand for teachers, students and parents! Standards-Based Grading Rubrics for Literacy and Math
Many school districts are now moving to a Standards-Based Grading system which uses letters instead of traditional numerical grades. These literacy and math rubrics are aligned to the Common Core standards and are attached to a student's work before it is turned in for grading. The teacher scores the work using this rubric which is then sent home weekly for parent review.
This form uses the following letters to show student performance:
E = Exceeds
M = Meets
P = Progressing
L = Limited

Common Core ELA "I Can" Statements 2nd Grade
These are the CCSS ELA standards written in "I can.." format for the students to use. These are all coded and framed in black and white polka dot frames. There is at least one for EVERY ELA standard.
There are 3 to a page. There are 32 pages. I believe there are 94 (a couple of blanks) I can statements. There are a couple of duplicates within the package. There are some that have several statements per standard. You can choose whatever you would like to use.
