Elapsed time (new strategy standard algorithm)

I teach students with disabilities and I realized that a number line is difficult for students to draw that have fine motor difficulties. This strategy has helped tremendously since I teach students the standard algorithm to add and subtract. You can also use a touch math strategy with this. This has six different examples of start time unknown, end time unknown, and finding the elapsed time.

Cosmo's Minus Method (Poster / Handout)

Cosmo's Minus Method is an adaptation of Cramer's Rule I made for my Algebra 2 class. I wanted them to have this algorithm as an alternative to substitution or elimination to solve moderately difficult systems of 2 linear equations in standard form. I chose not to call it Cramer's Rule because a quick google search would reveal how to use Cramer's Rule with the available TI-84 Graphing Calculators. Also, the title of the algorithm "Cosmo's Minus Method" comes from the name of the crazy neighbor

I have often found that my students go home to do their homework and parents are unable to help them because they do not have the background knowledge of the skill being taught. The two worksheet pages include very simple steps to simplifying a fraction. The first page is the algorithm going step by step through the process. The second page includes picture models which I feel is very important too. Students need to see(a visual) how the fractions are equal.

"I can show my work" Organized Scratch Paper

I created this simple scratch paper for my 2nd grade students' math work after struggling to see/read their work on regular notebook paper. This template has helped tremendously in keeping them organized when they show their work. Also great for when you have a printout of math problems, but no space to show strategies (e.g. addition/subtraction, but want to see more than the standard algorithm). It is not numbered, so it can be used with a multitude of assignments. I print on both sides of the
