I combined learning about the world, with some equity considerations, into this math lesson for interdisciplinary value. Students need to add or subtract from 100 to determine how much to shade. I show them 50% on the whiteboard and how to shade approximately to show the desired percentage. The visual diagrams help them to see 70% and make this association with grades and life.
