World War Two Fractions Code Breaking Lesson
My class loved this Enigma machine themed code breaking investigation. It requires pupils to be able to simplify fractions, compare fractions changing the denominator and adding fractions with the same and different denominators. A fun way to assess learning and links well to your history lesson if you're doing WW2. Math Secret Code Activity/ Simplifying Fractions
This activity asks students to simplify fractions, and match the answer with the letter and place it in the secret code (quote or saying) below. This quote or saying goes along with a commercial, movie clip or some other usually humorous short video (link provided) that the class enjoys afterward . I would make and use these every couple weeks as a review, warm up or take home activity, and the students enjoyed and looked forward to them, and it provided good drill and practice.
