Welcome to this 4th, 5th and 6th-grade fun, multi-step, critical thinking, word problem math packet. I originally designed this for my 5th-grade classroom, but most of the pages can be used for gifted or high achieving students in both 4th and 6th grade. I wrote these word problems over a number of years, and a couple of them are actually ones that students wrote. Parent Info for Conferences
This is something I created to give parents clear, accurate information about the skills we are working on at school, and what things they can help their child work on at home. When I use this I simply highlight the skills the student needs to practice and add notes to reference during conferences.
I teach at an ESL school with a high percentage of Spanish speaking families. This resource has an English copy, as well as one that has been translated to Spanish.

Think 1, Think 2 is a simple idea but one of my favorite resources for Inquiry based learning. Whether you teach in an inquiry based learning environment or not, you can make use of this resource.
When you start a topic, ask children to complete Think 1 – see what they know about the topic, with pictures, labeled drawings, words, wonderings or questions.

This is a tool for students to explain how they got their answer to a math problem- also included is a daily problem for a few days- you can edit this because it is a word document. I use this in math journals at centers. The daily problems are a third grade level- however you can edit and change them.

Rock Band Tour - STEM
This lesson has be used for a STEM enrichment. This lesson asks students to work collaboratively or independently. Students will create a rock band and plan an international tour. Students must log their travel expenses, distances, and elapsed time. This lesson allows students to see the needs for budgeting, planning, and provides a wonderful introduction to the global perspective. Requirements can easily be adjusted to fit the needs of any class.

I created this worksheet and scavenger hunt for an all girls STEM-careers camp. The girls were ages 6-12, so we completed the worksheet together, and did the scavenger hunt in two groups based on age. The clues for the scavenger hunt will probably need to be rewritten based on the locations you have available.
