Actually reading the words and comprehending them rather than just QUICKLY ADDING, SUBTRACTING, MULTIPLYING, OR DIVIDING to see if they calculate an answer shown. Attached are 12 word problems without numbers. Students are to write their operation they would use to solve. For my early finishers; after checking their operation; I have them go back and fill in numbers to the word problems.
