How Many Pennies Can Your Boat Float?
A simple lab in buoyancy for 2nd or 3rd graders. Simple materials. Easy to set up, with extensions for extra work. How does the shape and size of a boat affect the amount of cargo it can carry? In the inquiry lab, students will build simple boats to float gram blocks in a shallow pan of water.
