Printable Reference Inch Visual Square & Rulers

I'm developing a program for CNC routing as well as 3D printing. I needed an easy to visualize square and rulers for my students to use on the CNC. I found that students have a hard time telling the difference between 1/8", 1/4" & 1/2", so I added different gradients to this to show each scale. The color scale goes from 1/8th, 1/4 and 1/2". The squares are 7" x 7" with a penny for reference. The three 6" rulers also have the gradient scales and penny for visual reference. The second page has

This FREE teacher guide walks you though how to set up a class account in TinkerCAD, as well as a login form to help organize your classes. As you have your students design objects for 3D printing, you can pull the files directly from the class account for printing on your schools 3D printers. As a policy I only allow approved files through the class account. Students should only use the class account to create 3D printable files for school work. Do not let students do school work with personal

Red cabbage is a tried & true pH indicator for your science lab. While you may have played with liquid indicator, you can also make this into indicator paper to save money on expensive pH strips, or powder for long term storage and use. At ~$2 a head, you can easily make 2 gallons of liquid indicator, plenty of paper test strips, or concentrated powder. You can do a wide range of pH experiments with this food safe indicator. You can also use this to test the pH of food and eat it at the end! T

This is a tested and established classic lab activity. Students will explore density, volume and mass with this lab. Build your own boat with tin foil, or expand by 3D printing a final design in TinkerCAD! Your class will have fun working in pairs to make a boat out of tin foil that floats as many marbles as possible. They will then explore buoyancy, density, mass and volume as they complete the lab. This includes calculation problems for volume and density. EASEL ACTIVITY: You can now assign

The black box lab is a classic way to develop inquiry and indirect observations in science. You can have your students show direct observations, and then explain that many of our scientific advancements (atoms, germ theory) were through indirect observations. While there are commercial black box labs you can buy, you can build your own for free! You can use USPS small flat rate boxes (which are delivered for free to the school), shoe boxes or recycled Amazon boxes! You can have after-school stu

3D model of a Comet with Peppermints

A 3D model of a comet brings the lesson from the textbook to life for your students. You can make this with any available art supplies, or you can make edible ones out of candy. I went to the manager of the local Sonic and asked for a bag of the peppermints they give out with each order. These peppermints became the nucleus for many of the students models. You can expand with this project into other models of objects in the universe.
