About the store
I am in my 12th year of teaching. First graders are definitely the best age of kiddos to teach! I can't explain the amount of love I have for teaching them to read and watch their growth throughout the entire year. It is astonishing! I have been making powerpoints and many activities and graphic organizers for my own classroom and other teachers for awhile now. Now I just need to make the time to post them on here! (That's more than half the battle!)

I took this idea from another blog and made my own sheet. The other sheet that I uploaded from google docs did not have big enough spaces for a 5-6 year old to write in. I recreated the spaces to write the numbers and draw the dots of the dominos. All you need for this math workstation is : Domino Addition or Domino Subtraction recording sheet, a pretty colored pencil and dominos. :0)

Mathematical Practices Kid Friendly Clear Learning Targets

After attending many sessions about our new Common Core State Standards and several of those being about the new Mathematical Practices, I decided there has got to be an easier way to word those practices. I catch myself using the kid-friendly version more so than the actual practices themselves. I know that these are very important, more so with the upper grades right now, but I know it's only a matter of time before our little ones are expected to use them and know what they are. Therefore,

If your like me, I get tired of my kids working on one or two skills at a given time. The kids get tired of doing the same thing all day too: whole group, small group, math stations, independent practice, math homework. Everything is the same. So I did something about it. I came up with an acronym that allows students to rotate through the different domains of 1st grade math all year! This way your kids can begin working on games and skills that they will learn later. Introducing basic games and

There are many different ways to use this product. First, I recommend laminating the cards and cutting them out. 1. Use the cards to practice numerical order. 2. Play Go Fish with a partner. 3. Play Memory (You can shorten the game by only presenting #s 1-20.) 4. Make copies of your students and let them practice cutting and gluing the numbers in order on a sentence strip. *I made several extra pages at the end of this product for additional ways to play and for Go Fish.*

Navigating a 120 Chart

I use this 120 chart to help my kiddos understand that as they go down to the bottom, the numbers get bigger and when they go up to the top, the numbers get smaller. We do a lot of chanting about "Less=Hair a Mess and More=to the Floor." It really helps them visualize a picture of the kid holding a 120 chart and the poem helps when we start using the grid to do addition and subtraction of 2 digit numbers. I print one for each student, let them color the hair and shoes and then laminate them.
