I use this activity in my class whenever I want students to really explain something. I tell them, "Write like you're explaining it to an alien who knows nothing about _________." It can be used in a wide variety of subjects and grade levels! I have included several different formats of the brochure; feel free to use the one that is best for you! Attached is also a simple, generic rubric to help guide your grading of student work!

This is a great set of introductory lessons to culture; the terms students need to know, as well as how to begin comparing elements of culture. Students work in cooperative pairs to complete tasks. In this pack, you get two PowerPoints, both of which include activities for students to complete. The Culture Packet has a Venn Diagram that is featured in one of the PowerPoints, as well as follow-along notes.

This is a worksheet that can be used as a review or formative assessment after introducing the four Earth systems. Students have to identify prefixes for each system, match a picture of the system to the term, and then describe how they see each of the systems in a picture. This goes along well with the NGSS.
