Graduated at the top of my class from the College of Saint Rose. I have worked in rural, suburban and urban schools in varying areas all over New York State. I currently teach 6th grade math and I absolutely love it!
This jeopardy games covers prime numbers, factoring, the distributive property, order of operations and writing expressions. Everything that was covered up to the mid module assessment for 6th grade NYS math is in the game. This is a great way to either review before the mid-module assessment or just a fun way to review terms before the state test. Enjoy!
This assessments cover everything from Lesson 1 to 17 out of Module 4 of the 6th Grade NYS modules. It goes over factoring, distributive property, writing and reading verbal expressions and order of operations. This can be used as either an assessment of a review packet prior to the state test.
This lesson makes students apply the distributive property while factoring algebraic expressions. They move back and forth between both forms for extra practice. This is something I have noticed the modules do not cover in enough depth and WILL be on the NYS exam in April.
This is a 6 page packet which will give a basic overview of expressions and equations. It can be beneficial for either a review before the state test or if you didn't get to module 4 (NYS) it is a way to touch on the topic before the assessment. The packet covers orders of opperations, writing algebraic expressions writing verbral expressions and solving expressions.
This worksheets helps students practice working with exponents. The second page of the worksheet allows student to use a calculator and practice entering them into the calculator. I would also cover that multiplying decimals or fractions times decimals or fractions makes them smaller as well as scientific notation which is used in the first example. Students need to practice entering numbers into the calculator exactly like they see them on the paper.
