Given a bag of M&Ms students will create fractions, decimals and percents based on the colors they have in their bags to prove or disprove the claim made by the M&M company. I gave my students regular M&Ms, peanut M&Ms and peanut butter M&Ms based on student's ability. There are less M&Ms in the peanut bags because they are bigger which means it was easier for struggling students to work with. You can place students in pairs with this activity or they can work independently depending on how much
This packet is based on NYS Module 1. Some questions were added and some were removed to add to the lessons that were already created. Lessons are numbered based on other modifications I have made for the rest of the original module.
This worksheet was created for students to take to the grocery store with them. The worksheet includes a list of items that the fictional character "Sarah," needs for her house. She only brought $55 with her and students need to decide if she has enough money to buy everything she needs. This activity addresses adding decimals, real world application, subtracting decimals and money. It is a great activity to give before a break because it gives students multiple days to complete it.
Students use their knowledge of multiplying decimals to solve each problems and then color the corresponding sun based on whether or not the answers are odd or even. Easy review of a lesson and something bright to hang up around your classroom.
