Viking Raid on Holy Island (Lindisfarne)!
This activity asks students to write from two perspectives after reading a kid friendly (it was made for ages 11-12 but there's flexibility) retelling of the Viking Raid on Lindisfarne-- an attack that shook western Europe to its core and started the Viking Age. Estimated Duration:At the 6th grade level, I expect this to take 2 (53 minute) class periods if the kids are working efficiently. I've taught for many years in a high performing district. I teach both Language Arts and Science at the 6th grade level.
Teaching style
I love trying new things and integrating technology, but enjoy the classics too. I think it is important to use literature as a tool to teach history.
My own education history
I majored in "English Language and Literature" and minored in "Education in a Pluralistic Society" at the University of Southern California. I received my MAT from National Louis University.
