Make a tower out of no more than 100 marshmallows and 100 toothpicks. The goal is to hold as many pennies as possible.
There are two tests at the beginning of this assignment to help the students discover the strength of triangles. Then the students are asked to design a structure of their own. Then they must join their group and discuss their designs. They then decide on a final group design. Then they build their tower.

These 3 items are pieces of my simple machines unit. Each day we learn about a different simple machine. We find the definition and real-life examples of each one and record it in our "Simple Machines Notebook" (included).
