Teaching style

I believe that every student deserves access to high-level curriculum. My approach combines rigorous standards with the necessary scaffolding to help diverse learners thrive. Whether I’m guiding a student through their first analytical essay or helping them visualize distance on a coordinate plane, I utilize strategic tools like sentence frames and visual anchors to lower the barrier to entry. By providing clear structures and meaningful real-world ties, I empower students to conquer 6th–8th grade ELA and Math with confidence. My teaching style is built on the belief that structure creates freedom. My goal is always the same: to make learning clear, meaningful, and empowering for every student.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I believe every student is capable of high-level success when given the right tools. I’ve witnessed students with IEPs conquer skills they once thought were out of reach, from drafting their first evidence-based essay to navigating multi-quadrant grids with ease. My work has been recognized for excellence in differentiation because I prioritize student relationships and accessible design. I’ve led literacy growth across multiple grade levels and supported students who went from below-grade-level to meeting or exceeding expectations on district assessments. These resources aren't just worksheets; they are the refined products of years spent helping students in Chicago classrooms bridge the gap from struggling to thriving.

My own education history

I earned my Master’s in Education (M.Ed.) with a focus on Special Education and hold an LBS1 endorsement. Over the years, I’ve continued expanding my expertise through ongoing professional development in reading intervention, curriculum design, and inclusive education practices. My academic journey taught me the importance of meeting every learner’s needs, something I carry into every resource I create.

Additional biographical information

Outside of teaching, I’m a proud mom and creative entrepreneur. I love designing educational materials, writing children’s books (like my MJ the Superbaby series!), and creating tools that make life easier for teachers and more engaging for students. My goal for this store is to share resources that save teachers time while giving students the structure and support they deserve — because every child has a story worth helping them tell.
