This document guides students on the steps to simplify radicals. On the left are the steps in order to complete and on the right is a worked through example. This is a one-page document that highlights the important features of a quadratic function. It shows an example when the parabola is facing upwards and another example when it is facing downwards. I print it out for my students in black and white so they each have a copy. I also print a colored version which I laminate and keep in a pocket folder on each of my 9 tables. This document is a performance task that guides students through the important features of a parabola by analyzing dolphins jumping. Students should have already learned how to factor and complete the square. They will use this to determine the zeros of the graph along with the vertex of the graph. This worksheet is designed as a group activity for groups of 3. Each member of the group will get a worksheet in which he/she needs to solve by factoring, using the quadratic formula or completing the square. The group members will compare their answers with each other which helps visualize that no matter which method you use, the answer will be the same. If there is a disagreement in the answers students must work together to problem solve and find the error. It is great practice for error

This 2 page document shows graphs of 2 linear, 1 exponential, and 1 quadratic function. First students are asked to make observations about each of the graphs. (I would pause for a class discussion after this section) Then students are asked to relate the graphs to equations, table of values, and real world situations. Answer key is included. Enjoy! This video goes along with factoring trinomials when a equals 1 guided notes (attached). It is a very straightforward explanation on how to solve. Students in my class love this because if they are advanced they may try to solve and then play the video to see if they are correct or struggling students have the videos for future reference or can pause or rewind while watching the video.

I print this document double sided and laminate it for each table in my classroom. It visualizes the relationship between multiplying binomials by distributing and factoring by grouping. I started factoring by grouping as my only method of factoring as it works for when a is 1, when a isn't 1, and difference of perfect squares.
