This is a PowerPoint on how to construct source cards for an MLA format research paper. By learning how to format source cards students will learn how to format a works cited page. Also included in the presentation are instructions on in-text citations, and taking notes.

A test that I created for my freshman students on a basic understanding they should have for the research paper process. Answers are BOLDED, obviously you would unbold for duplication. There are 30 questions.

This project was designed for my English IV-Honors class but could be adapted for any student reading the Inferno. Students are grouped and assigned cantos to read and present on. This is a handout for students on the MLA format research paper. It explains certain criteria that I found pertinent to be completed in preparation for writing the paper (which you can add to or delete). It also includes a timeline for hand-in of all the required MLA parts to the research paper. Dates and specifications can be modified according to the grade level and requirements of the teacher.

This is a project I created for students to learn the novel Dubliners. It is broken down into sections of the novel and then by story. Each group or student is assigned a story and then required to give a presentation. I ask students to give handouts to the class as well as a quiz. This is a thorough assignment to give to your class. Students will teach themselves as well as others.

This is a fun project that I had my students do after they read Animal Farm. It teaches them about the different types of propaganda as well as how other can be easily influenced. It also lets the students see the funny side of how radical some propaganda can be.

This is a pilgrimage project that I gave my senior honors class. It can be adapted for any level by changing the amount of writing. It can also be adapted to work alongside a math class because the project requires students to track the money the spend on their trip. This assignment took my students about a month to do. It is writing intensive and I had to offer them time in the computer lab to do some research.
