Geometry Quiz - Transversals (vocab and solving - word document) Semester LT: I can prove two triangles congruent. Quiz Learning Targets: I can determine the measure of an angle without using a protractor.
Word problems around surface area and volume that push students to apply their knowledge on the topic. The worksheet includes 9 problems with embedded additioal questions.
This assignment asks students to apply their knowledge of surface area and volume. They are presented with a problem and must calculate and justify their solution of what is the best option of available for a company. Small rubric and exemplar are included.
Learning Target: I Can develop and use formulas for the Lateral Area, Surface Area, and Volume of a Prism or Solid Students will complete the following and then need to answer a series of questions. In order to meet this target you must complete the following: 1) Draw each of the following shapes on their own sheet of paper (drawings do not have to be to scale since that would be a special kind of punishment). a) Rectangular Prism b) Triangular Prism with Right Triangles as Bases c) Cylinder d)
Learning Target: I can use the properties of similarity and scale to build scale models. Supporting Learning Target: I can scale a baseball field by a specific scale factor. Includes activator, introduction to project, graphic organizer and rubric.
Learning Target: I can use my knowledge of surface area and volume to solve real world problems about cylinders and rectangular prisms. The document will be a word download so you can edit as needed.
The Learning Target for the attached quiz is : I can apply properties of acrs and sectors to solve problems involving circles.
(Answer Key Included)
Students will be asked to solve:
- for the area of a sector through a word problem,
- the arc length given a diagram of a circle,
- the circumference of a circle given arc criteria,
and
- the area of a shaded region.
For the area of the shaded region there are two problems, (a) and (b). One is a right triangle within the circle while the oth
This in class activity has students come up with the formula for surface area of cylinders. Students walk away remembering how and why to use the formula. There is some prep work for the teacher to "wrap" canned goods. You will want string and rulers available. One of the most successful activities I have done with my students!
High School Geometry Quiz - Constructions (word - editable) Overall Target: I can prove two triangles congruent. Quiz Learning Targets: I can write clear instructions for a construction. I can construct an equilateral triangles, angles, and angle bisectors using a compass and a straightedge.
Students will be asked to construct and transform an image that they choose. Students should be encouraged to complete multiple drafts. Rubric is included.
Worksheet or practice quiz for finding missing angles using transversals. Learning Target: I can determine the measure of an angle without using a protractor.
Included are 9 station activities that gives students different and hands one was to review the material they learned about Surface Area and Volume. This allows them to apply and explore the formulas in engaging ways while working in small groups. You will need to provide: - a cylinder - a few nets - one can (like a soup can) and a box - cubes - a couch pillow (or a small pillow)
Attached is a Learning Target tracker for the Geometry target: I can prove two triangles congruent. The tracker is broken into supporting learning targets for students to better understanding of the components needed to meet the overall LT. The targets are aligned to Engage NY Unit 1. Perfect for Standards Based Grading but can be used in any format. Document is an excel file.
Instructions and rubric for students to create a mini-poster where students teach someone younger then them about area and perimeter. Can be expanded to surface area and volume!
