This worksheet outlines a simple essay for any Sherlock Holmes story. The main thesis of this essay is that Sherlock Holmes is an amazing detective who always catches his culprit/s due to his fantastic detective skills/personality traits. Students are asked to provide evidence/quotes from the story to back up their position. The format is so simple that students are able to independently fill out the worksheet and then jump on a computer to type up their essay.
It's hard even for adults to master homonyms and homophones! Imagine what it's like for our students. Introduce these most commonly confused words to your students a couple at a time or have them pick the words they use incorrectly. Have students place this reference chart in their binders or grammar folders. When asked to edit their work, have them refer to this chart to make sure they used their homonyms/homophones correctly.

A new spin on literature circle activities!! Gone are the literary luminaries!! Your students can take on the role of a director, casting director, movie critic, soundtrack designer, etc. and analyze their readings.
This test is comprised of 8 different sections. Students are tested on their integer vocabulary, ordering of negative/positive numbers, deciding if the number is an integer or not, using signs to write numbers, and adding/subtracting negative and positive numbers. There's even an extra credit section at the end where the students are asked to read a table and answer questions.
