About the store
Thank you for stopping by my store! I have taught 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade for the past 20 years and been active on TpT for over 16 years. I love my job and can't imagine my life otherwise. I believe all students should learn using hands-on activities, repetition, group work, and art embedded throughout the curriculum. I've worked in both the middle school and elementary school settings during my career. I am GATE-certified and enjoy incorporating choice and creativity into all my lessons. I love working with children and learn from them every day! I think learning should always be fun and dynamic for kids.

Teaching style

I love creative assignments and choice. I try to utilize the multiple intelligences learning styles whenever possible! I love to let my students read from the carpet (even in sixth grade) or sit on their desks to change up their perspective. I love using the Socratic Method with my students. Half of the day, you might find my class outside. I teach science lessons in nature and let kids do their journal writing while feeling the breeze through their hair... kids need to be outside, have playful learning experiences, and be actively part of their learning.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was awarded a provost scholarship during my undergraduate degree and offered a fantastic fellowship for my graduate education program. I've also spent years teaching at a Blue Ribbon distinguished school.

My own education history

I studied creative writing during my undergraduate studies at NYU. I've taught gifted middle school students and mainstreamed elementary school students. Now I teach fourth grade students! Prior to teaching sixth grade, I was a reading specialist who worked with high-school immigrants who read at the kindergarten level. I've had a variety of experience with kids from so many different backgrounds.

Additional biographical information

I love reading, creative writing, working out, swimming in the ocean, and being around positive people! I'm often out taking long hikes, trying to enjoy nature, and I love bird watching. :)
