I've spent 15 years in middle school and high school classrooms, 1 year as a science instructional coach, and 2 years working with pre-service teachers at the university level.
This is a foldable with the NGSS crosscutting concepts worded in student-friendly language. I use this for each unit, and students write down the names of labs/activites/notes that address each cross-cutting concept. A pdf and an editable PPT file are included.
This lab partially aligns with the NGSS performance expectation:
HS-LS1-4 Use a model to illustrate the role of cellular division (mitosis) and differentiation in producing and maintaining complex organisms.
Science and Engineering Practice: The lab involves the use of a model (frequency of stage/relative length of stage) to predict the frequency/relative length of each stage in a different cell type.
Cross-Cutting Concept: The system is the mitosis and interphase part of the cell cycle
