I have been a teacher for 7 years. I started in Southwest Kansas and have recently moved to Washington state. I have worked with middle school aged students since before teaching.
To aid our students in their ever increasing need to provide evidence for their arguments for Common Core and NGSS I have created a simple yet effective sheet to assist them in recording their evidence.
The sheet has a place to record the title and source of the article and is split into two sections, one for evidence against and one for evidence for. I have included two pages so that you could easily print it double sided.

Review Ticket – Vocab 1- covers some of the basic vocabulary for the unit
Review Ticket – Types of Weathering - students sort examples of weathering into chemical and mechanical weathering

Four exit tickets where students read a short passage about Pepper and her experiments. Students need to find the manipulated, responding and controlled variables for each of Pepper's experiments. Each page has two copies of the exit ticket ready to print out and make copies. The document can be edited and includes an answer key at the end.
A foldable for variables and a set of three practice problems. These are meant to be put into an interactive notebook. The document can be edited and includes 3 practice problems where students read a passage and pick out the variables.
Part A: Ms. Pepper's class is asked to find the density of 6 unknown solids and liquids before using a table to determine their true identity. Part B: Somebody removed the labels from three elements and now you have to help determine which elements they really are by determining their density and doing a very quick internet search. You also have to defend your claim. I have included an answer key for all of Part A and some of Part B.
I love my Science World magazines but sometimes I don't have the time to print from their website and then my students don't get to pick out what they want from the magazine, so I made this little write up. It gives them choice but also makes them accountable.
A blank and editable bell work template. It includes all five school days.
The five days fit on one page making it possible to make a double sided copy so you could use it for two weeks.
A quick concept map for measuring matter (volume, density and weight).
There are some practice problems on the backside too. The file is a zip file and comes with an answer key.
