I have been a teacher for 7 years. I started in Southwest Kansas and have recently moved to Washington state. I have worked with middle school aged students since before teaching.
A set of 11 density practice problems with an answer key.
I have the problems done in sets. The first set of 4 problems is solving for density. The next set of 3 problems is solving for volume using density. The next set of 3 problems is a combination solving for either mass, volume or density. The last problem, # 11 is a challenge problem requiring students to solve for volume, mass and density.
I have also included an answer key.
A mini unit of atoms and the Periodic Table.
Inside you find 14 items in total, everything has an answer key. Inside are 5 exit tickets, 2 sets of notes with teacher notes, 3 practice sheets, vocabulary per-assessment, Periodic Riddles and a short quiz.
I have a free preview of the unit at this link, it's the Periodic Riddles sheet. A short activity for students to solve riddles about the elements on the Periodic Table.
Periodic Puzzles
To aid our students in their ever increasing need to provide evidence for their arguments for Common Core and NGSS I have created a simple yet effective sheet to assist them in recording their evidence.
The sheet has a place to record the title and source of the article and is split into two sections, one for evidence against and one for evidence for. I have included two pages so that you could easily print it double sided.
3 short reading practices about cells, students need to put the missing word from the word bank into the blanks in the reading passage.
Each reading practice has a small activity at the bottom included. The answer key for the reading passage is included too.
# 1 - Two Kinds of Cells (prokaryotic and eukaryotic)
#2 - Plant and Animal Cells
# 3 Function of the Organelles
A set of 7 exits for a small chemistry unit. (See list below.)
There are 2 copies of each exit on one page along with an answer key for each set.
● Properties, Changes and Mixtures
●Physical and Chemical Changes
● Matter
● Mixtures and Compounds
● Mass, Volume and Density
● Volume + Density Practice 1
● Volume + Density Practice 2
3 quick exit tickets or review questions for easy and quick use in the classroom.
The first two are fill in the blank with a provided word bank focusing on cell type and organelles within the cell. The third is a compare and contrast for prokaryotic and prokaryotic cells. Each of the three come with an answer key and come with two per sheet, easy to print, cut and hand out to students.
Need some quick measurement practice for your students?
8 stations focused on measuring, finding volume and density.
I have also created a short rubric aligned to the NGSS Scientific and Engineering Practices.
A set of speed problems for your force and motion unit.
10 problems in total.
Set 1 has 5 problems for determine speed
Set 2 has 4 problems for finding distance or time using speed
Problem # 10 comparing speeds
Answer key is included.
A two page document covering the five school days. Each day has 8 categories that can impact classroom planning.
(Standards, Activities, Assessments, Special Events, Meetings, Cross Curricular, Homework, Additional Notes)
10 new practice problems for Conservation of Mass, students should write out the chemical equation and determine the number of products and reactants involved in the process.
Answer key is included.
If you liked Conservation of Mass Practice # 1, then you will like #2. More practice and new elements for them to see.
6 practice problems for Conservation of Mass, students should write out the chemical equation and determine the number of products and reactants involved in the process.
Answer key is included.
8 exit tickets for Force and Motion.
Topics include:
Force
Friction
Speed
Velocity
Gravity
Momentum
Kinetic and Potential Energy
Newton's Law of Motion
All 8 tickets come with an answer key.
The exit tickets are formatted so that each page will print two copies of the same exit ticket. After each exit ticket I have included the answer key.
Part A: Ms. Pepper's class is asked to find the density of 6 unknown solids and liquids before using a table to determine their true identity. Part B: Somebody removed the labels from three elements and now you have to help determine which elements they really are by determining their density and doing a very quick internet search. You also have to defend your claim. I have included an answer key for all of Part A and some of Part B.
Broken into 4 parts, the first part is filling out a data table and determining the average for each group of data.
The second part is finding the range, median and mode for the data table above.
Part 3 is a quick review of balancing chemical equations and part 4 is math and theory practice for Conservation of Mass.
Answer key is included.
A short assignment to review element names, element symbols and the number of electrons for each element.
Students fill in tables with required information and then answer very basic questions about the information in the table.
This would be a great short homework assignment or just as a quick review.
A short homework assignment over endothermic and exothermic reactions along with the Law of Conservation of Mass. Answer key is included with the 8 questions. Can be used for bell work too.
A short activity where students solve riddles about elements on the Periodic Table.
It's also found in my Mini Unit Atoms and the Periodic Table.

I love my Science World magazines but sometimes I don't have the time to print from their website and then my students don't get to pick out what they want from the magazine, so I made this little write up. It gives them choice but also makes them accountable.

Experience
I have been a teacher for 7 years. I started in Southwest Kansas and have recently moved to Washington state. I have worked with middle school aged students since before teaching.
Teaching style
I am an active teacher who is used to not having a lot, so I had to make stuff as I went. I am not to terribly different than my students, just a slightly taller version of them.
Awards & shining teacher moments
No official ones at the moment but my students say I am their favorite teacher.
My own education history
Under grad at the University of Northern Iowa
Master's at Fort Hays State in KS
Additional biographical information
I have a dog who appears in most of my classroom activities and homework. Her name is Pepper and she appears in most of the items posted on here.
