This bookmark is designed to be copied double sided to accommodate 12 chapters. The students must determine the most important plot point in the chapter and summarize it in one sentence. Recording each chapter summary in one place helps students to remember each turn in the plot. This is a great activity for scaffolding struggling readers to summarize an entire book. At the end of the book, you can ask students to pick the four or five most important chapters and write them as a paragraph.

A vocabulary list I created to use as a reference for students during our animal science unit. I used a poster machine to enlarge the list to display on the wall. How you use it is up to you! Two copies are included. The first uses the terms endothermic and ectothermic which I believe alleviates some confusion between warm-blooded and cold-blooded meanings. Students make the singular nouns plural, then sort them into whether they needed to add es or add s to the singular noun. I initially used this to help students recognize the difference between in, it, and is. But have since expanded this to other similar Kindergarten Dolch words as well as created a blank template for you to write in the words your students need to work on.
