Mnemonics Devices for American History Through Reconstruction

This is a short, tried and true way to get students to memorize the first 17 US Presidents and the 13 Original Colonies. I created and used it when I taught American History through Reconstruction. I learned that if students knew the order of the presidents, then they would have a built-in time frame of when things happened. Have fun with this easy memory trick!

Accommodations Listing- Individualized

This is a simple chart to remind the teacher of the needs of students. You can fill it in, print it out, and keep it located with your special education or 504 files or keep it saved on your computer desktop to look at any time. It is easy to modify if your state or district uses different accommodations or wording. Thanks for looking.

About the store

Experience

I am a Texas middle school teacher, principal, and now a district-level principal mentor. I taught 6th, 8th, and 10th grade social studies throughout the years. I LOVE teaching and I love teachers!

Teaching style

I think your best bet is a little bit of everything. Hands- on, partner work, group work, working individually, lectures, note taking, student-made, technology, centers, games, you name it. A good mix keeps the attention of the kids. Everyone learns differently as we all know.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Teacher of the Year at my middle school campus 'back in the day' and Regional High School Assistant Principal of the Year.

Additional biographical information
