This anchor chart and worksheet goes with RL1. I used this activity to get my kids to stop asking the silly questions that did not matter to the story. The anchor chart was used to make sure that they understood the difference between the two different types of questions. We then used the worksheet with a fiction story to come up with different big dig and small dig questions that pertain to the book!

This is a two handout deal. I used this while teaching 1.OA.A.1. It is great because the students have to 'prove it'. In this section we drew a 'part-part-whole' mat so that students could illustrate their thinking.

I used this packet during the Lucy Calkins Writing about Science Unit, but it could be used with any science project or experiment to add some writing in!

This goes with RL.2.7. I used this as a follow up to reading a story. The students were told to think of the most vivid image from the story. This moment that they remember is usually the main idea of the story. I had them illustrate this moment and write about it!
