Students will read several short excerpts from "The Narrative of the Captivity and the Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson" and answer questions. Various levels of Depth of Knowledge questions are addressed (identify terms used to describe the natives, compare/contrast Rowlandson's description of the Natives to Las Casas's description of the Europeans). Students will also cite evidence as to how Rowlandson embodies the Puritan beliefs and values based off her writing.
