This Power Point follows the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar - it leaves key words blank to allow students to practice going back into text to find answers. It would also be useful for sequencing and retelling. I have students write in answers with an Expo marker as a whole group activity after several readings of the story.

Water Cycle game: Students will become droplets of water traveling through the water cycle while tracking their journey. Students will be able to compare and describe changing patterns in nature that repeat themselves. This is a great way to wrap up a unit on the water cycle. Includes station posters, 9 station dice, record and tally sheets, directions and explaination.
MIMIO Lesson. Students read a definition for what a want is and what a need is- then they work to sort objects into categories. This lesson is a great platform to open up a discussion about what we really Need VS. what we Want. Not all items have a "right or wrong" answer.
Using the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar students will go back in the text to find the correct words/pictures to move into the blanks. Students must look closely at choices and non choices to determine the correct word.

Students practice decomposing numbers 3, 4, 5, &6 in this Halloween themed MIMIO activity. Students place counters in a grid and match to an equation, giving them a visual representation of the ways to make a number. There are 2 "levels" to participate at making this a lasting activity.
Decomposing numbers is a Common Core requirement for multiple grade levels.
