For example, for 9+4, students would be guided through steps to say "9 + 1 = 10, 10 + 3 = 13". This freebie can be used in a math center to practice the strategy counting on. Students use the game board to move along each circle, then roll a die and count on the number of dots to get the answer. Recording sheet is included. You can use a counting bear, bean, or chip as a game piece. This is set up for one player, however can be modified to play with a small group by simply having the students take turns to move to the next circle on the board. This activity is aligned to CCLS.
