Landmark Supreme Court Cases Matching Game
Developed for AP US History students reviewing for the AP exam, this matching game helps students review some of our nation's most important Supreme Court cases including Marbury vs. Madison, Brown v. Board of Education, and Roe v. Wade. Also included are cases important in the context of different movements/eras, like Munn v. Illinois, the Insular cases, and Mueller v. Oregon.
I've taken the game next level by asking students to complete tasks AFTER properly matching the cases. Examples in

APUSH and AP Euro Applying Historical Thinking Skills Graphic Organizer
This graphic organizer can be used to help students apply historical thinking skills to any event, person, place, or idea in US history. All or some of the fields can be used depending on the topic. It's a great brainstorming tool to use for review.
Ideas for use:
- Have students try to fill in the graphic organizer on their own first, followed by group collaboration, and finally whole group discussion OR have students circulate to other groups and share ideas, narrowing them down to the to

Experience
I have 15 years experience in education, with four at the middle school teaching 8th grade US History I and the remaining at the high school level teaching primarily AP US History and US History II. Experience as an AP Reader has given me significant insight that has influenced test preparation and strategy development.
Teaching style
My teaching style is student-centered. I favor active learning strategies in collaborative groups. With most of the assignments and activities I give to my students, there is a group component to completing the exercise. I believe strongly that students learn at higher rates through discussion with their peers and in the benefits of peer discussion in helping struggling learners master the standards. I view myself as a facilitator of learning rather than as a dispenser of learning.
