Teaching style

My teaching style is rooted in fostering deep engagement and meaningful learning for both elementary students and adult learners. I incorporate high-impact teaching strategies that are research-based and proven to elevate instructional effectiveness, while also using total engagement techniques to ensure all learners are actively participating and invested in their learning. Ongoing formative assessment is a key component of my approach, allowing me to continuously monitor progress and adjust instructional practices in real time to meet the evolving needs of my learners. Whether working with young students or adult educators, I strive to create dynamic, responsive learning environments that promote growth, reflection, and achievement.

My shining teaching moments come when a teacher or student approaches me to share a positive experience or a reflective insight sparked by a lesson I taught or a professional development session I facilitated. These moments affirm the impact of my work and highlight the power of intentional, responsive instruction. Whether it's a student expressing newfound understanding or a teacher sharing how a strategy transformed their classroom practice, these interactions remind me why I’m passionate about education and committed to continuous growth—for myself and those I support.

My own education history

I have my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and my Masters degree in Language and Literacy with certifcations in English as a Second Langauge (ESL) and Reading Specialist. Both of these certifications are K-12.

Additional biographical information

I have three sons and have been in education for over 15 years. I have had many roles, but Instructional Coach has been my favorite. I love to fish, garden, hike, and spend time with family.
