This guided lesson will teach the basics of Microsoft Excel to emerging-learners in technology. I designed it for fourth graders who have little-to-no previous experience. Four challenging puzzles to help students practice place value up to the hundreds-digit. I designed these specifically as an extension activity for gifted students. These four puzzles encourage deductive-reasoning (following the clues to find the one-right answer.)
Students use candy conversation hearts to practice measuring angles, converting metric and customary units, and finding perimeter and area.

This is the companion poster that outlines the steps in solving a word problem. It belongs with the colorful problem solving posters for students to refer to as they work on solving tricky math word problems.
