This project is a great way to get your environmental science students engaged and invested in renewable energy sources. Students will take learning into their own hands as they research pros and cons to their assigned or chosen renewable energies. This project makes a good addition to an energy unit or a land-use unit. Students will identify a variety of substances and imbalances in urine that indicate health risks by completing a urinalysis for 6 patients. All 6 urine samples have instructions to make simulated results using household materials (no expensive synthetic urine needed!). This is a great resource for teachers wanting to give students the opportunity to learn about blood typing without the hazardous procedures of classroom blood typing.
