A fun activity for students to complete focusing on branding/logos from a Pop Art Perspective. Students follow the instructions and look at the examples provided to create their own cropped pop art style drawing or artwork. This activity also works well as an independent cover lesson to be left for a substitute teacher, all they'll need is coloured pencils. Students produce really bold, bright, effective results from following this process.
Students create a collaged album cover for a song of their choice. They can use magazines, print outs or coloured paper to create their designs. This worksheet includes instructions and a template for them to create their collage.
Perfect for a cover/sub lesson! This art making activity asks students to use the image prompts provided to draw something creative and unexpected. Students are given parts of an animal illustration, and asked to create an unusual artwork that and AI wouldn't be able to generate, ie. thinking outside the box. A fun lesson, that works as an excellent conversation starter on the role of AI in or modern world, and the impact this might have on artists.
This worksheet partners with a presentation that introduces students to the work of Hundertwasser. Students complete a closed passage about the artist, review complementary colors and complete 3 small sketches based on cropped artworks by Hundertwasser to develop their understanding of his use of colors and patterns. I use this within a printmaking unit based on the work of this artist and this helps students to develop more complex designs in their artmaking. (American Spelling)
A worksheet for students to define each of the Elements of Art and draw a small example for each one. This creates a reference for students to come back to during their artmaking when looking for ideas.
An activity to help introduce students to colour theory & the meanings behind different colours. Students begin by colouring in the colour wheel in the centre of the sheet, before drawing, writing and colouring different items, objects or memories that they associate with each colour. This makes a great reference for students to come back to when creating art and making meaning within a work.

This presentation is accompanied by a worksheet that is also available on my page in a bundle with this document. This presentation introduces students to the history of fruits in Visual Arts, discusses what makes a hybrid fruit, reviews definitions of key terms, and walks them through the first activity of drawing 4 existing fruits into their art books. This is part of an introduction to creating Hybrid Fruit Sculptures. Students can create sculptures using clay or bendable wire and paper mache

An activity to help students understand different colour categories and terms. Students are asked to write the definition for each of the terms before colouring in each of the logos to suit the colour definition. I use this with my year 7 students, but it also makes an excellent cover lesson or refresher for students in-between units.
