This is a symmetry sort where students will look at cards that have various 2D shapes on them. Each shape has a line that divides the shape into two parts. Students can sort the cards into two piles, shapes that show symmetry and those that do not! Can be a great visual sort for students to practice identifying lines of symmetry!
With this lab write-up students will use various tools that represent different bird beaks. These tools include tweezers, a slotted spoon, and pliers. Students must use these tools to crush and open various foods that the bird "beaks" are eating. Foods such as cereal, gummy worms, and sunflower seeds are used. This lab write up includes a materials list, questions, hypothesis, data, results, and a conclusion section. It is a VERY interactive science lab! Fun way to teach animal adaptations!
This is a word document that contains detailed instructions for five different literacy spelling centers that can be utilized in a 1st or 2nd grade classroom.
