The Literacy Block Delivery Model A is one possible way to effectively utilize 60 minutes of the 120 minute literacy block. The other 60 minutes would be spent in guided reading groups and/or independent reading.

Story Math Students read the word problem and draw a picture that matches the word problem. Once students drew the correct amount of apples in the correct location and colored their picture, I let them put red puff paint over the apples for an added effect. They loved the end result!

Independent Reading Management System/Book Nooks Students are placed in five "colored" groups and each group has a designated reading spot (beach chairs, table, pillow,and carpet). Then they will choose which paper they need for each day's writing.
