This resource allows struggling writers to structure their ideas as it relates to the theme and theme development of a literary text. Students are required to code parts of their response for accountability and this strategy also trains the instructor's eyes for efficient grading and assessment. Rubric for constructed response is also provided.

Student will annotate four information text, answer text dependent questions and compose a constructed response related to author's introduction, development, and refinement of key ideas within the text. RI3 RACE Sentence frames, student accountability checklist, sample annotations, Sample constructed response (follow sentence frames), and Rubric provided. *Articles can be substituted for other articles to fit your thematic unit. *17 pages

This unit contains 4 articles where the student will annotate, answer text dependent questions, and compose a color coded constructed response related to the central idea and it's development. Article #1 is a sample of what modeling the process of annotating for theme development and constructing a response. The article is annotated for you and a sample constructed response exemplar is provided using my RI2 Theme Development Sentence Frames. Article #2 is for the students to mimic your modeling
