Students apply their geometry vocab words by creating a town. There are step-by-step instructions. Some of the things they are required to do are draw parallel roads, perpendicular roads, draw buildings using the different polygons, name the buildings using math vocab., etc. The students REALLY get into this project!! They continue to talk about it all year long when the vocabulary words come up!
Integers can be very confusing for the students so why not let them play a game to help them practice instead of giving them the usual worksheet? It's a partner game (or they can play individually for differentiation). Each pair/person will need a deck of cards and a di. (All can be purchased at the $ store!)
Students use the deck of cards and di to set up a number sentence.
Students are required to make 7 statements involving the real world in which they use a fractions, decimal, and percent. Then they draw a picture to decorate it a bit. It uses one sheet of paper folded in 8 parts. An example, along with ideas, are included in the project description.
Vocabulary words for learning all of the properties of addiction and multiplication. Students can follow along with their self-guided notes. There is also a section by each word where students can write an example to help them understand exactly what the definition is saying.
Students conduct a survey, make a frequency chart where they convert to fractions and decimals, and then take their data to create a variety of graphs. The students always love this project because it allows them to be creative!
Examples are given within the outline of the project as well! :)
Short quiz on rounding, using compatible numbers and properties of addition and multiplication. Puts the vocabulary words to practice from my "Vocabulary for addition and multiplication properties".
At the beginning of the year, I use this worksheet to review rounding/place value with my students. Even though they come to me in 7th grade, I have found that this is a struggle of theirs yearly. I often use it at the beginning of the year and/or in the middle of the year.
