This fun hands-on activity is a great way for students to get hands-on, solving a real world problem where they have to cover three circular 2-d ornaments using the formula for area. I gave each of them three different sized cut-outs of circles to be measured and for them to solve. They loved it!

Averages on the track!

This activity is meant to be used for a class outside on the track. I used this with my math intensive classroom of eight students. Students are timed three times when walking or running a short distance on the track. They were each asked to keep track of their time and log it on this handout. They then were asked to find the average for the entire class. Great kinesthetic lesson!
