This lesson is one of my favorites! The culminating activity has students do a taste test to see if they can decifer the generic brand from the brand name products. I used potato chips, corn flakes, cheese doodles, graham crackers, and saltine crackers. My tip for this lesson is to have the plates already prepared before students enter the classroom. Seeing the food and knowing that they are going to be eating grabbed my students attention so fast! They were hanging on every word waiting for me

Students will propose a sport for the NCAA to recognize. Students get very creative with project. We had everything from boxing to cricket to rugby to quidditch (yes, the game in Harry Potter). Many colleges have their own club teams or leagues for these sports so there is a good amount of information for students to base their research. This is one of my favorite sports marketing projects of the year. I hope you enjoy!

Assign each student or group a category. Have students think of examples that pertain to their assigned category. As a visual aide I created a large bell curve on the blackboard. Each student got 4 post its for their examples and placed them in the appropriate spots along the curve. When the entire class was finished we had a great variety of examples.
I used this quiz as extra credit but you can format for your needs. Since its original purpose was for extra credit you will notice a 5 in the upper right hand corner. You can change the total possible points to your liking. The quiz is formatted as two per page to reduce the amount of paper.
