Teaching style

I am a dedicated and caring professional that is committed to the social emotional and academic growth of my students. I work hard to create a classroom climate that fosters respect and kindness. In recent years, I have come to see what a positive impact mindfulness instruction can have in the classroom. I incorporate these elements into my classroom on a daily basis so that my students can practice the important skill of checking in with themselves in a gentle, kind way. The skills of mindful living are so important in our fast paced world and learning how to slow down and just BE is a very undervalued skill.

My own education history

I have undergraduate degrees in Communication Studies and Spanish Literature. After working in the corporate world, I realized that my true passion lies with children and teaching. I participated in an alternative certification program where I taught in a high needs school for four years while obtaining my Masters in Elementary Ed. I achieved National Board Certification in 2012. Recently, I took several graduate level courses to obtain my middle school endorsement.
