Experience

I am currently in my fifth year of teaching. During my first two years, I taught Algebra I (9th grade math) and an Algebra remediation course for upperclassmen. In my third year (during COVID), I taught Geometry (10th grade math) and 7th grade math. I continue to teach 7th grade math with a special focus on social emotional learning. I also have over a decade of tutoring experience in various subjects and grade levels.

Teaching style

Project-based learning (PBL) and gamification allow my students to engage deeply with math standards that they wouldn't normally feel apply to their daily lives. I strive to create a safe learning environment so that all students feel empowered by knowledge and are comfortable taking cognitive risks. I am currently researching the effects of play-based learning in the upper grades.
