This is an 8-page mini booklet that will make daddy cry. Each page (4.25" x 5.5") has a personal message for dad. Print the pages back to back then cut page in half (book style). Place one set of pages onto the other. Fold then staple twice with a long arm stapler. We brainstorm for each page then I set a timer for writing a sentence in their own book. When time is up, we are ready to start next page. When writing is done, pictures are added that match what they wrote about. A real keepsake.

I used this sheet with a fairytale done first on the overhead, then handed out and done together, then done independently with a fairytale I read. This retell sheet has coloured bookmarks that go with the practice sheet. When done at school, this strategy can be practiced alone or with a learning partner.
