About the store
Good day, everyone! To e-mail me directly: secondstar2therite@comcast.net. After receiving my ECE from Northern Virginia Community College, I attended the Association Montessori Internationale training in Palo Alto, California. This course was given by Dr. Lena Wikramaratne. Miss Lena was trained and worked beside Dr. Montessori and her son, Mario, while Dr. Montessori was in India. I retired in May, 2017, after almost 40 years as a Primary guide. I have always enjoyed making materials , so TPT was a good fit for me. Sadly, as I get older, I find that I cannot produce as much as I used to, but I still think of something new occasionally. Take the time to enjoy your students as time passes way too quickly! Blessings, Mary

Nocturnal Animals Montessori 3 Part Cards

Animals at Night!This subject is so interesting to all kids, but seems to me to lend itself to young children during the autumn season. I decided not to isolate the animals, as the background seems to add information in placing the animal in it's habitat. And older children who are making more connections need lots of information! Hmm. Maybe habitats next? This file features ★a variety of nocturnal animals: skunk, red eyed tree frog, cat, raccoon, armadillo, beaver, bat, cricket, hermit cra

Animals In Winter Sorting Cards & Writing

*Print Version*Animals In Winter cards offer a very simple exercise in classifying familiar animals into three basic winter adaptation groupings; migrate, hibernate or adapt. There are six examples of each adaptation so that the children do not become too overwhelmed. Even the youngest children enjoy joining in conversation or just listening and attending when the topic is animals. To extend the experience and to give little hands something fun to do, I have included three versions of writing;

Sorting Vertebrates Cards

Classification of VertebratesAfter children come to an understanding of classifying animals as vertebrate or invertebrate, the next step is to go on to classifying vertebrate animals into their five classes. This is a fun task made easier by the first set of animal pictures being color coded according to class. The second set is for older children to classify and then read and match the animal names. Also included are control charts and suggestions for presentation.

Animal Body Coverings 3 Part Cards

When I made this, I focused on trying to keep it simple so that even very young children would be able to do this work independently following a presentation or observation. So I color coded the three types of coverings; fur, scales and feathers. At the same time, it kept wanting to become a reading classification language work. So I extended the work for older children by adding separate labels and control cards. You receive: six examples of each covering, reading labels and control ca

Awards & shining teacher moments

I'm most proud of the years I spent in my beautiful Montessori Children's House of Aloha in Oregon. I purchased a house built in the 1950's that had beautiful, low windows and a french door that led to an enormous, natural backyard with an enormous oak tree, wooden deck, garden and invitations to play at the back of the yard. So many children passed through those doors, all grown up now. So many beautiful memories!
