Are you looking for a way to get students into proof writing? Rather than starting students off with immediately writing proofs, I want students to learn about their thinking style and building towards a logical argument. I have a vocabulary section in "Book of Proofs" that provides students a space to record key vocab words. I created a nice lively discussion about the existence of imaginary numbers. This is a guided notes sheet that guides students through an example of running into negative square roots. We talk about why negative square roots don't work and provide imaginary numbers as a solution. The students also see patterns for the powers of i and then evaluate some negative square roots.

This activity outlines to the students the process of making a SMART goal. It consists of students playing a game with smarties and they get to reflect on goal setting. Then, with their reflections they make goals for the course. SUGG: These worksheets were designed specifically for my classes but you can tweak them to fit your own.
