This is a No Prep language arts project that explores the literary element of Conflict using the movie Jingle All the Way. It is a great holiday project to do in December. After learning about conflict, students write a 5 paragraph essay on the conflict found in the movie Jingle All the Way. I usually use this after completing a similar assignment using the novel Hatchet by Gary Paulsen (see Hatchet Conflict Project). You could make this work for a full week or stretch it out to 2+ weeks.

No Prep Chemistry Physical Science Sell An Element! Project

This is a fantastic No Prep project that my kids have loved every year! Students have to research, advertise and try to "sell" an element off of the periodic table in a creative project format. It would be great as an introductory physical science project in middle school or could be easily allow students to go more in depth at a high school chemistry level.

Experience

This is my 20th year teaching and I hold multiple endorsements including secondary science, middle school science, math, language arts, and K-8 elementary. I have taught just about every subject and grade level, however my passion lies with upper level science courses.

Teaching style

I vary my teaching style in order to meet the needs of all students. In my classroom. I utalize a lot of hands-on, creative, laboratory style activities. Anything new and/or different to get kids excited about learning and engaged in the activity is what I look for in a good lesson.

My own education history

Additional biographical information

I live in rural Wyoming where I love to spend my time with my family outdoors. I love gardening and also spend a lot of time at the rodeo. My favorite event to compete in is Team Roping. My kids are Pee-Wee Rodeo'ers and I have a blast watching them run barrels, pole bending, goat tail tying, and dummy roping. When I'm not teaching, in the garden, or at a rodeo I can usually be found on the mountain, where I like to hike and fish. I have a passion for teaching kiddos of all ages and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE science. I hope I can share my excitement for teaching with you through my products.
