Mini Lab The Effects of Fatigue on Muscles

This is a fun, hands-on lab where students explore the effects of fatigue on muscles. When we exercise, the oxygen in our bodies is used rapidly to make energy. This is called aerobic respiration. As we increase our blood flow, the amount of oxygen is depleted. The body cannot make enough ATP (energy molecules) to maintain the demand. We become fatigued. If we continue to exercise with this lack of oxygen, lactic acid is produced. This is called anaerobic respiration. This mini-lab uses

About the store

Experience

This is my 20th year teaching and I hold multiple endorsements including secondary science, middle school science, math, language arts, and K-8 elementary. I have taught just about every subject and grade level, however my passion lies with upper level science courses.

Teaching style

I vary my teaching style in order to meet the needs of all students. In my classroom. I utalize a lot of hands-on, creative, laboratory style activities. Anything new and/or different to get kids excited about learning and engaged in the activity is what I look for in a good lesson.

My own education history

B.S. in Science Education M.A. in Teaching and Learning with Technology

Additional biographical information

I live in rural Wyoming where I love to spend my time with my family outdoors. I love gardening and also spend a lot of time at the rodeo. My favorite event to compete in is Team Roping. My kids are Pee-Wee Rodeo'ers and I have a blast watching them run barrels, pole bending, goat tail tying, and dummy roping. When I'm not teaching, in the garden, or at a rodeo I can usually be found on the mountain, where I like to hike and fish. I have a passion for teaching kiddos of all ages and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE science. I hope I can share my excitement for teaching with you through my products.
