This is a fun, no prep project for students involving watching the movie, The Incredibles and then relating their superpowers to the states of matter (and how they defy the states of matter). Other parts of this project include students making their own superhero, a comic strip, and a story to go along with their superhero. Science Fiction vs. Real Science This assignment has students read a portion of a sci-fi book, short story, poem or watch a sci-fi movie or TV show and compare and contrast the science fiction and the real science. This is a great way to incorporate Reading in the Content Area (Science and/or Math), as well as meet Writing standards within the science classroom.

Experience

Teaching style

I vary my teaching style in order to meet the needs of all students. In my classroom. I utalize a lot of hands-on, creative, laboratory style activities. Anything new and/or different to get kids excited about learning and engaged in the activity is what I look for in a good lesson.

My own education history

B.S. in Science Education M.A. in Teaching and Learning with Technology

Additional biographical information

I live in rural Wyoming where I love to spend my time with my family outdoors. I love gardening and also spend a lot of time at the rodeo. My favorite event to compete in is Team Roping. My kids are Pee-Wee Rodeo'ers and I have a blast watching them run barrels, pole bending, goat tail tying, and dummy roping. When I'm not teaching, in the garden, or at a rodeo I can usually be found on the mountain, where I like to hike and fish. I have a passion for teaching kiddos of all ages and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE science. I hope I can share my excitement for teaching with you through my products.
