The educational call for a new (or renewed) focus on the practice of teaching reading comes from the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The phrase for this new movement is Close Analytic Reading, CAR, or more commonly just Close Reading. Teaching style
Trying not to be average, predictable, status quo, and mediocre has always been the goal while teaching. The result typically is engaging practice and topics, practical processes, excited learners, and not so normal activities that combine philosophies of brain science, movement, diversity of learners, collaborative learning, workshop, and teacher as facilitator. All of these are rooted in promotion of outside the box thinking and best practices.
